There will be Thomas College softball hitting clinics held every Sunday, in February (2-9-16-23), from 1 – 2 p.m., at the Alfond Athletic Center, in Waterville. The cost is $30 per session, bring your own bat.
Chordsmen offer singing Valentines
The Kennebec Valley Chordsmen Barbershop Chorus, of Waterville will be offering Singing Valentines on Friday, February 14, 2025, and on Saturday, February 15, 2025. The Chordsmen, clad in tuxedos, will appear at the address on the the order to sing two love songs, and present a card and a rose from the sender of the Singing Valentine.

Waterville Area Soup Kitchen to hold fundraiser
The Waterville Area Soup Kitchen will be holding its first fundraiser on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Elks Club, on Industrial Street, in Waterville. The event is a tropical themed winter getaway. The doors will open at 5 p.m.
The soup kitchen is open five days a week. A light breakfast is provided in the morning and a hot lunch at noon time.
In 2024, the soup kitchen served over 80,000 meals.
The evening will include door prizes, appetizers and a cash bar, entertainment, 50/50 drawing and live and silent auction.

Baked beans supper in Starks
A baked bean supper will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at the Starks Community Center, 57 Anson Road, in Starks. This event is hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #39, Madison. Meal will consist of three types of baked beans, hot dogs, cole slaw, biscuits, beverages, and apple crisp. St. Cecilia Chamber Choir holding auditions
St. Cecilia Chamber Choir is holding auditions for tenors and basses as they begin preparing for May 17 and 18 concerts. Sopranos and altos may join the waiting list. The concerts will feature Kodály Missa Brevis, Britten Rejoice in the Lamb, and a potpourri of other works, old and new. To schedule an audition, email audition@ceciliachoir.org.
Singers wishing to audition should have good vocal control, and sopranos and altos should be able to sing without vibrato. The ability to read music is preferred, but those who cannot read may participate by spending extra time learning the music at home with the aid of provided practice materials.

Winslow Community Cupboard Food Pantry to benefit from indoor yard sale
Winslow Community Cupboard food pantry – which serves food-insecure children, seniors, and other adults from Winslow, Waterville, and 22 surrounding towns – will hold an indoor yard sale at Winslow Congregational Church, 12 Lithgow Street, on Saturday, January 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Among the dozens of appealing items for sale will be household items, books, kids’ toys, and much more. All proceeds will benefit Winslow Community Cupboard food pantry. Sheepscot Chorus invites singers
Sheepscot Chorus invites you to sing Bob Chilcott’s A Little Jazz Mass, and arrangements of folk songs by Vaughan Williams, Holst, Grainger, and others. A Little Jazz Mass is an innovative choral work that blends traditional liturgical text with the rhythmic and harmonic flavors of jazz. It is one of Chilcott’s most celebrated and popular choral works, and has received many performances across the world, including at St Paul’s Cathedral, London.
The chorus resumes rehearsals on Tuesday, January 14, at 7 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, in Wiscasset, next to the Wiscasset District Court. Rehearsals will continue on Tuesdays in preparation for the concerts on April 12 and 13. No audition is required.

Baked beans and hot dogs public supper event
To kick off the China Ice Days & China Lake Fishing Derby weekend, there will be a traditional Maine winter meal at the China Masonic Lodge # 45, on Friday, February 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. The meal will include baked beans, two hot dogs, coleslaw, bread, coffee, soda, brownies, and ice cream. $10 per person. The China Masonic Lodge is located at 50 Main Street, China. Disability parking is behind the lodge and all other parking is across the street from the lodge.

Two local square dance clubs to offer beginner square dance lessons this fall
The Central Maine Square Dance Club, of Watervillle, hold lessons on Tuesdays, at the George Mitchell School, on Dutton St., in Waterville. Also, the Ridge Ramblers, of St. Albans, hold their lessons Wednesdays, at the Jonathan Bowman Center, on Hartland Ave., in St. Albans.
The lessons will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m., each night at a cost of $5 per person, per lesson.

Goodnight Moonshine
Goodnight Moonshine combines the evocative voice and songwriting of Molly Venter, with Eben Pariser’s adventurous guitar playing. The result is folk music with a depth of improvisation and tonal subtlety usually reserved for jazz.
