Dear Town Line Reader:
Since our founding in 1989, The Town Line has been a FREE community newspaper. However, the local news, original content and investigative reporting you depend on takes a great deal of time, hard work and money to produce. In the past, advertising has been our primary means of support, but the revenue we get from advertising has been falling as advertisers increasingly move away from local publications to global platforms like Google, Twitter and Facebook. That means support from readers like you is more important than ever.
In 2009, The Town Line employed eight people. Now, we’re down to just three part-time employees. The Town Line used to be as many as 32 pages. Now, we’re down to just 16 pages or fewer.
The need for local reporting hasn’t lessened, but the advertising revenue we used to count on has. Please consider supporting The Town Line so we can continue to bring you the best in local news, in-depth reporting and original content. If only 10 percent of our readers contributed just $20/year to support us, we could easily meet our budget and bring you even better content in the future.
Your support makes a big impact. Best of all, since we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donation is completely tax deductible! Please use the Donate button below to submit a contribution using PayPal or credit card. Every little bit helps!
Sincerely,
The Town Line staff:
Roland D. Hallee, Managing Editor
Claire Breton, Business Manager & Assistant Editor
Kathy Duhnoski, Advertising & Outreach Coordinator
