LUCILLE A. LaPOINTE
WINSLOW – Lucille Agnes (Deschaine) LaPointe, 96, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Lucille was born in Waterville on November 3, 1928, the daughter of Ulrich and Jeanne (Lambert) Deschaine.
She attended Waterville public schools and graduated from Waterville High School.
Over the years, Lucille had a few different jobs. She worked at the Winslow Drive-In Theater, was a cook in the Winslow School System, and owned and operated Lucille’s Dairy Whip.
Lucille married the love of her life, Leo LaPointe before the two of them moved to Winslow. They had two children whom she adored, Stan and John LaPointe. One of her favorite places in the world was her camp on China Lake. She loved going there whenever she could.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Leo; and her son, John LaPointe.
Lucille is survived by her son, Stan LaPointe and wife Celeste; her grandchildren Jessica and husband Jared, Joshua, Amanda and husband Jimmy; her great-grandchildren Jace, Joslyn, Jude, and Vivienne.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, August 19, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Ave., Augusta.

WATERVILLE – Jeffrey David Adams, 66, of Waterville, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
A casual Celebration of Life will be held at the MacCrillis-Rousseau Winslow VFW on Sunday, September 7, with open hours from 1 to 4 p.m. All are welcome.

WINSLOW – William “Bill” L. Carney, 85, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from a rare form of appendiceal cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St. in Winslow at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, followed by a Celebration of Life in Bill’s honor at the MacCrillis-Rousseau Winslow VFW, Post #8835, 175 Veteran Drive, Winslow, at 11 a.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

CHARLENE KING
SIDNEY – Charlene King, 66, of Sidney, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Charlene enjoyed time in her garden, walking among her flowers and plants, visiting the ocean, spending time with horses, and being with her grandchildren – who brought her endless pride and joy.
She will be remembered for her strength, her positivity, and her strong will in every situation. Her love for her family and her deep appreciation for nature were constants in her life.
She is survived by her husband, Jere King; her children and their spouses, David and Robyn King, Deanne and Abram Hale, and Bryan and Julie King; and her grandchildren, Zakary King, Paige Hale, Emma Hale, and Jayde King.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.
LUCILLE M. TRASK
OAKLAND – Lucille M. Trask, 82, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, following a short-term illness. She was born on February 15, 1943.
Lucille was a homemaker and cleaned camps in Belgrade. Lucille’s favorite hobby was fishing. She was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley. She loved growing a vegetable garden with her late husband and late son. Lucille also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Lucille was predeceased by her parents Charles Frost and Louise (Nutter) Frost; husband, Basil Trask; son, Kevin Buzzell; sister, Mary A. Kelley.
Lucille is survived by her brother, David Frost and sister, Jackie Frost, of Belgrade; daughter-in-law, Samantha Buzzel,l of Benton; two granddaughters, Cassaundra Buzzell, of Fairfield, and Amanda Buzzell and partner Derek Shaw, of Fairfield; three great-grandchildren, Izabelle Shaw, Jake and Ava Raymond, all of Fairfield.
There will be a graveside burial at Lewis Cemetery, on Cottle Road, in Oakland, at 11 a.m., on Friday, August 22. There will be a small gathering at her house after at 58 Oak St., in Oakland.

DOLAN D. PETERS
FAIRFIELD – Dolan D. Peters, 79, passed away at home on Thursday, August 7, 2025, following a long battle with Parkinson’s and Cancer. Dolan was born on April 16, 1946, to David and Dora (Guite) Peters.
He attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School, on High Street, in Fairfield, and graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1965. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 as a radio and telecommunications specialist, stationed in Germany where he spent 18 months.
Dolan had a love for playing and watching sports. He was very active in physical fitness and could often be found riding his bike or at the gym. He also coached P.A.L. football in the 1980s. Dolan spent many years singing in the choir at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and volunteering at the Fairfield Interfaith Food Pantry.
Dolan was an electrician, working at Keyes Fibre Co. (now Huhtamaki) for many years before briefly going to Scott Paper Co, in Winslow. He also spent time working for the Central Maine Railroad, and then ultimately retiring from Sappi Fine Papers, in Hinckley, after many years.
Dolan had a wonderful sense of humor and was a hardworking, loving father and husband who will be deeply missed.
He was predeceased by his son, Dale D. Peters; his wife, Sally E. Peters; and his grandson, Brock C. Peters.
Dolan is survived by his daughters, Tammy L. Gidney with her husband James, and caretaker, Amy L. Peters with her partner Eddie D. Deberry; grandsons Cody Thibodeau, Ty Peters, and Eddie C. Deberry; granddaughter, Ali L. Peters; great-grandsons Lincoln and Barrett Thibodeau; brothers Dean and Dana Peters with their wives Dawn and Tracy, respectively; many cousins nieces and a nephew.
Arrangements have been made through Somerset Valley Remembrance Center. There will be no public service per Dolan’s wishes.

COLBY L. WHITAKER
Colby Lee Whitaker, 88, passed away peacefully, at The Oak Grove Center, in Waterville, on the morning of Thursday, August 7, 2025. Colby was born in Detroit, Maine, on October 28, 1936, the first son of Clyde and Cecile Whitake, of Detroit.
He graduated high school at Maine Central Institute, in Pittsfield, then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Soon after, Colby would marry his sweetheart, Judy Richardson, of Pittsfield, on June 27, 1958. Colby would be stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, and Judy would soon follow him there where they would have there first son, Steven in 1960.
Once they returned to the U.S., they would build their family, adding Pamela, Scott and Shawn. Colby then took a position in the maintenance department at Keyes Fiber Company, in Waterville, where he would rise to plant manager throughout the 1970s and ‘80s.
During a short two-year assignment in Albertville, Alabama, he would be tasked with opening a new Chinet paper plate plant from the ground up as plant manager. After retirement and his family was grown, he was led to Scarborough, where he would purchase West Branch Woodcraft, turning a hobby into a way of continuing to provide for Judy and himself.
Colby’s passion was spending time making music and laughter with his brothers, sisters, family and friends alike. Countless get-togethers with them would fill his joy for life. Colby spent many weekends with his family camping, fishing, boating and hunting. He loved the peace that nature offered. He had a love of sailing and purchased a sailboat in Belfast, naming it The Judy Mae after the love of his life. He was a modest artist, painting many scenes of nature. He was a member of the Rotary Club, helping to promote goodwill and fellowship to the business and professional community.
When it came to being a grandfather, Papa had an immense love for all his grandchildren. Words cannot even begin to describe.
Rides on his tractor, teaching them how to fish, always with a big hug and a kind word ending in “Dear”. He was so fortunate to have met his most recent great-grandsons Banks and Henry Whitaker at the hospital and at Oak Grove before he left.
Colby was a kind soul, always lending a helping hand to anyone unconditionally. He enjoyed adopting a common sense solution to every challenge he faced. He will be dearly missed and will live on in all who he
touched.
Colby was predeceased by his father Clyde Whitaker, mother Cecil Bartley Whitaker, sister Nadine Cooper, brother Edward Whitaker, brother in-laws Wayne Richardson, Henry Sartin and his wife Gail Sartin.
Colby is survived by his wife Judy Richardson Whitaker; his daughter Pamela; sons Steven, Scott, Shawn; daughters in-law Betty McGovern, Christy Madore, Crystal Whitaker; son-in-law Mike McLaughlin; grandchildren Adrien Rister, Jesse Whitaker, Alex Whitaker, Dylan Whitaker, Katie McLaughlin, Mike McLaughlin, Colby Whitaker, Samuel Whitaker, Sarah Whitaker, Tyler Whitaker; four great-grandchildren; his brother Howard Whitaker; sisters Sharon Crosby, her husband Roger Crosby, Linda Whitaker; sisters-in-law Donna Glenn, her husband Gerald Glenn, Lana Phair, Dodie Richardson; many nieces, nephews.
A military service will be held at the Togus Veterans Cemetery, 129 Blue Star Ave, Augusta, ME on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10 a.m., followed by a gathering to celebrate his life at the The Elks Lodge #964, 397 Civic Center Drive, Augusta, ME 04330.
In lieu of flowers, Colby has requested that non-cash veteran related item donations be dropped off at Togus VA Medical Center, Voluntary Service Office, Building 205, 3rd Floor, 1 VA Center, Augusta, ME 04330. CECILE M. VIGUE
FAIRFIELD – Cecile Marie (Poulin) Vigue, 102, died on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at home, in Fairfield. Cecile was born in St. Theophile, P.Q., Canada, on September 26, 1922. She was a daughter of Romain and Exilia Poulin.
She moved to Waterville in 1926 and was educated in local schools, receiving her G.E.D from Waterville High School. She was an avid reader and a lifelong learner.
She was a stay-at-home mother, while her children were young, and once her children were in school, she worked at Butler’s Department Store and at the Chi-Rho Shoppe, both on Main St., in Waterville. She also worked filing pistol grips for the War Department in 1941 – 1942 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Cecile enjoyed many local activities, including volunteering for over 20 years at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Waterville. She was active in the local Catholic parish and was president of the Ladies of Saint Anne. She sang in the Sacred Heart choir for many years. She enjoyed weekly bridge games with many dear friends.
She knitted for the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers and provided hundreds of pairs of mittens and hats for their Christmas program. She also knitted infant hats to send to Kenya after her granddaughter, Dr. Rachel Mason, went on a volunteer trip to work in a hospital there.
Cecile participated in the French language revitalization in Maine, first with Waterville High School film students and later with Colby College film students who made a movie called “Reveille – Waking up French,” including Cecile and Alcée. She attended French language conversation groups, both at Jorgensen’s and Muskie Center, both in Waterville.
She and her husband traveled to many states and countries enjoying ship reunions for the U.S.S. Hyman with lifelong friends. She enjoyed family reunions, and she loved and was loved by her devoted immediate and extended family. One of her very favorite words of wisdom was that “a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.”
She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years Alcée; her parents; two sisters, Rita Rowe and Jeannine Delaware, brother, Martin; a daughter, Laurette Marie, who died at birth; one grandson, Peter Mason; and one son-in-law, Richard Mason.
She is survived by four children, Jeanne Mason, Robert (Nancy Haskell), Patricia (Bruce Bolduc), Thomas (Eileen Fingerman); 10 grandchildren, Chuck, David, Paul, Amy, and Rachel Mason, Jeff and Joseph Vigue, Kevin and Katie Bolduc, and Kira Vigue. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at a later date.

CLINTON – Paul Everson Dickey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Waterville.

GABRIEL J. DeRAPS
WINDSOR—Gabriel John DeRaps, 46, passed away at home on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Gabe was born on October 31, 1978, to parents Thomas DeRaps and Margaret (Hunter) DeRaps. He grew up in Jefferson and Hallowell.
He graduated from Cony High School, in Augusta, class of 1997. Gabe was musically talented and participated in the Chizzle Whizzle productions and was a member of the musical group “Madrigal”, traveling the state of Maine to perform.
At the age of 17, he met his future wife while attending a small church in Whitefield. On August 7, 1999, he married Amanda L. Schmitt and the two went on to raise eight daughters.
Gabe worked for Fred’s Coffee, in Waterville, where his regular customers looked forward to seeing his friendly face. Gabe was friend to so many people new and old. He enjoyed having a small homestead, being in nature and working with his hands. He will be remembered as the “music guy” fun-loving, the life of the party – as well as a dedicated husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Mandy; his eight daughters, Lily Cadle and her husband Eric, Allythia, Sophia, Mahalah, Elise, Riella, Serenity, and Paisley DeRaps; his parents, Thomas DeRaps, wife Cheryl; his mother, Margaret DeRaps; his brother, Christopher DeRaps and his wife, Kristina; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 983 Ridge Rd., Windsor, ME 04363, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial at Rest Haven Cemetery, in Windsor, will be private.
All others are welcome to a celebration of life gathering following the service at the Windsor Christian Fellowship, 9 Reed Rd., Windsor, ME 04363, where stories may be shared.
