The Clinton July 4 Great American Celebration parade will start at 10 a.m. in Clinton, on Wednesday, July 4. The annual celebration, formerly held in Winslow, will be at its Clinton location for the second year.
This year, however, the parade will form at the Formtek parking lot on the Hinckley Road, across from the Tradewinds. The parade route will continue down Baker Street, take a left hand turn onto Main Street, pass Powers Auto Sales on Rte. 100, and continue on to the Clinton Lions Fairgrounds. This was done to make the parade route longer so more people can join the crowd to enjoy the parade.
They will be accepting floats or interested people in the parade until the day of the parade. Contact Anthony Barton or Matthew Gyles with any questions.
Those along the parade route are asked to park in appropriate places in order for the homeowners to stay happy.

The Assumption College Office of Student Activities, in Worcester, Massachusetts, has announced that Shalahn Staten, of Clinton, has been elected, and is currently serving, as president of ALANA Network for the 2017-18 academic year.
ALANA Network is one of nearly 60 clubs and organizations available to students allowing them the opportunity to network with professionals; take on leadership roles; and use classroom knowledge in the community. The student-run clubs appeal to a variety of interests and include offerings such as academic clubs (French, Italian, Pre-law, etc.); media (College television station, literary magazine and student newspaper, Le Provocateur); honor societies and many more.
“Student involvement is a cornerstone of an Assumption education,” said Kaitlin Bevins, director of student activities and leadership development at Assumption. “The College offers a wide array of clubs and organizations-cultural, athletic, and academic, among others. Engagement in student groups help students find their niche and utilize their talents, while building confidence, friendships and leadership skills.”
ALANA (African, Latino/Hispanic, Asian and Native American) Network is a student-run group that meets weekly during the academic year in order to plan and promote student and community activities.

The Clinton Elementary School Student Council recently led a school-wide drive for warm winter hats, scarves and mittens and/or money for the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter. Their “Hats for the Homeless” drive netted $181 and approximately 150 warm winter items.
The Assumption College Department of Athletics, in Worcester, Massachusetts, has announced that Kapriece Dahms, of Clinton, has earned a coveted spot on the 2017 Assumption College field hockey team. Dahms, class of 2019, is competing during the Greyhounds’ fall season.
