Award winners Mike and Linda Hendrikse have worked to create a strong buffer at their lake front cottage. They have created vegetated buffers (areas of vegetation situated between the built environment and the water), to trap sediments, excess nutrients, and other pollutants, preventing erosion and helping to stabilize the sloped areas and the shore line.
