Mark Serbent, of Waterville, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Serbent was initiated at United States Naval Academy, in Annapolis, Maryland.
Sydney A. Kahl, of Waterville, was inducted into the St. Lawrence University chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society.
Kahl is a member of the class of 2018 at St. Lawrence University, in Canton, New York, and is majoring in environmental studies. Kahl attended Plymouth Regional High School.
Alexander Munro, of Waterville, graduated cum laude from Becker College, in Worcester, Massachusetts, at its 229th Commencement ceremony, on May 6. Munro earned a bachelor of arts in interactive media design.

Maine Cal Ripken 11U District 5 champions, Waterville, went undefeated for the weekend and defeated Skowhegan in the championship game, 5-4, with Brendan Roderick the winning pitcher.

Recycled Shakespeare Company (RSC), central Maine’s premiere Shakespearean theater company, now in its fourth season, is pleased to present As You Like It by William Shakespeare. This year’s play will be performed in three different locations.
The first performance will be held at the hall of Waterville United Church of Christ, (Congregational) Eustis Parkway, Waterville on Friday, June 16, at 7 p.m. Tickets, as always, are free, however an advance donation of $10 will give you optimal viewing in a first or second row seat. The second performance will provide audiences an opportunity to enjoy Shakespeare the traditional way, by daylight, at noon on Saturday, June 17, at Coburn Park in Skowhegan. Bring a picnic and a blanket or chair to the amphitheater.

Katie Howes, of China, stars as Rosalind while Natasha Jencks-Ayres, of Madison, plays her cousin, Celia. Murray Herard, of Winslow, returns to the RSC cast as Touchstone, the fool, while Joshua Fournier, of Fairfield, plays Jaques, Shakespeare’s most famous melancholy man. Kaitlin Corson, of Albion, and Alejandro Fernandez, of Strong, make their RSC debuts as Orlando and Silvius.
New cast members also include Cathe Ayres, of Madison; Angela and Grace Dunton, of Hartland; Isabella Fernandez, of Strong; Alli Macdonald, of Belfast; and Shana and Joey Page, of Albion; with a special appearance by Carlos Bandieras, of Fairfield. Veteran cast members and crew include Debbie Achorn, Rita Fortin, Lyn and Joe Rowden, Emily Rowden Fournier, Liana LaPlante, Teya Bard, Helena Page.
As always, these productions by RSC are fun, free, and family friendly. Refreshments will be available for purchase at each show with proceeds helping to bring free local theater to Central Maine audiences.

Inland Hospital, in Waterville, is gearing up to fight hunger in local communities! Partnering with United Way of Mid-Maine, Inland will collect non-perishable food items and essential products for local food pantries until May 30.
The hospital is asking for healthy choice food donations; low-sodium, low-fat, whole wheat or whole grain items such as pasta and cereal, canned vegetables, and fruit canned in fruit juice are suggested.
Personal and household essential items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, diapers, paper towels, trash bags and household cleaning products are also welcome.
Donations can be dropped off at Inland Hospital’s cafeteria, located at 200 Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville, during regular business hours through May 30. All items collected will be delivered to local food banks. For more information call 861-6047 or email inlandcr@emhs.org.

Jessica L. Laliberte, of Waterville, has joined the Central Maine Photography staff as a reporter/writer. Jessica has a long media background having worked in radio, TV and print press. She was the first Central Maine Bureau Chief for WABI-TV 5 News. She is the president at The Liberte Consulting Group, LLC, a local media relations and lobby business. Jessica holds her undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Maine and her masters of business administration from Thomas College, in Waterville.
