RAYMOND C. BICKFORD

OAKLAND – Raymond Carl Bickford, 86, of Oakland, passed away at Togus Springs Hospice Center on Wednesday, March 27, in Augusta. He was born in Rome, May 29, 1932.

Ray was predeceased by his father, John R. Bickford, mother, Lillian M. Tibbetts Bickford; and brother, Robert Bickford and his sons, Peter Bickford and Timothy Bickford.

Ray leaves behind his wife, Ruth Hurd Bickford, of Oakland; son, Gregory Bickford and wife, Diane, of Unionville, Connecticut, and daughter, Kim Bickford, of Waterville; grandchildren, Joseph Greene and wife, Leslie, of Fairfield and their children, and Jeremy Bickford, of Connecticut; Courtney Green, of Waterville, Michael Ashman and wife, Cara, of New Hampshire, and Brian Bickford, of North Carolina. Ray also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was particularly close to his cousin Vance Tibbetts and wife, Ida, of Norridgewock. He also leaves behind his stepsons, Landy St. Peter and wife, Mary, of Oakland, Mark St. Peter, of Waterville and Glenn St. Peter, of Oakland, his step-daughters, Caron Beeckel and husband, Peter, of Turner, and Diane St. Peter and wife, Lisa, of Massachusetts, step-grandchildren Jeremiah, Jacob, Ben, and Ashley St. Peter, and many others throughout the US.

A private memorial will be held on April 28.

LISA A. KING

OAKLAND – Lisa Ann King, 54, passed away at home on Friday, March 29, 2019. She was born on February 26, 1965, at Redington-Fairview Hospital, Skowhegan, to Lawrence R. Farmer and Scharliene M. Farmer (Austin).

Lisa graduated from Messalonskee High School, in Oakland, and Barbizon Modeling and Acting School. She was employed by Buds Food Center and Maine Criminal Justice Academy before becoming a homemaker.

Lisa loved children, crafts, gardening, working with animals, large family gatherings, modeling, dancing, and gymnastics. She had a heart full of love for her family and friends.

Lisa was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Scharliene Farmer; and her brother, Lawrence Farmer Jr.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Wann C. King; her children, Michael, David, Brandon, Hannah, Joselyn, Angela and Donna King; and her grandchildren, Alex and Scarlett.

A memorial service will take place at Grace Bible Church, 333 Oak St., Oakland, on Saturday, April 27, at 10 a.m., followed by lunch and fellowship with the family. All are welcome.

ROLAND M. LaROCHELLE

WINSLOW – Roland LaRochelle, 94, of Winslow, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home, in Waterville. He was born in Winslow ono January 5, 1925, a son of the late Ephrem and Alfredina (Letourneau) LaRochelle.

Roland worked for 35 years at Capital Distributors, in Winslow, as a salesman and subsequently as sales manager. He later joined Mid State Machine Shop, in Winslow, where he worked until he retired in 1995.

He enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, gardening, splitting wood, and playing cards with his friends at the Le Club Calumet, in Augusta, where he was a 50-year member. He also loved working around his home and yard. One of his favorite pastimes was watching and feeding the birds from his porch which led to his battling the squirrels and chipmunks, all known to him as “Chippy.” To those privileged to know him, Roland graced all with his humor, ingenuity, and unmatched hard work. Memories and stories of his life are many and will be shared for years to come. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lucille Picard LaRochelle; seven children, Muriel (Thomas) Howells, Theresa (Ronald) Bailey, Raymond (Brenda Shea), Elaine (David) McQuillan, Ann (Michael) Roderigue, Lisa (Michael) Whisman and Donald; his brother, Patrick. He was lovingly known as Pepere to his 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Francine; brothers, Lionel, Wilfred, Clarence, August and Paul and sisters, Adella Boggs, Evelyn Paradis, and Yvette Jean.

NICHOLAS V. GOODWIN

FAIRFIELD – Nicholas V. Goodwin, 34, of Fairfield, and formerly of West Gardiner, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019. Nicholas was born in Augusta at MaineGeneral Medical Center, on November 20, 1984, the son of Victor A. Goodwin Jr., and Kelly Batchelder.

Nicholas attended Wayne, Maranacook, as well as Gardiner school systems. He spent most of his life battling a kidney disease and received a kidney donation on June 1, 1989.

He loved listening to music, especially Madonna, Michael Jackson, and had a love for Marilyn Monroe.

He is survived by his parents, Victor A. Goodwin Jr., of West Gardiner, Kelly Batchelder, of Richmond; a brother Billy; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

JALEAH G. PARLIN

OAKLAND – Jaleah Gail Parlin, infant daughter of Hope and Dylan Parlin, was born sleeping on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Augusta.

She was predeceased by her twin sister, Jocelyn Marie, and grandfather Mike Jordan.

She is survived by her parents, Hope and Dylan Parlin; her sister, Juliette Parlin; grandparents, Norman and Donna Cormier, all of Oakland; Peter and Alicia Parlin, of Daytona, Florida; great-grandparents, Bernice Lausier, of Oakland, Gail Parlin, of Augusta; uncles and aunts, Kyle Cormier and partner, Jaime, Nate Parlin and partner, Mercedes, Austin Parlin and partner, Hannah, and Aaron Jordan; as well as numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins.

A celebration of Jaleah and Jocelyn will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 1 p.m. at The First United Pentecostal Church of Augusta, 15 Wilson Street, Augusta. Following the celebration there will be a gathering of family and friends where refreshments will be available.

JOANNE McKAY

WINSLOW – Joanne (St. Amand) McKay, 89, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 201, at Oak Grove Center, in Waterville. She was born April 4, 1929, in Middleboro, Massachusetts, the daughter of Ovila and Minnie L. (Fagerberg) St. Amand.

She was the wife of Eugene “Gene” Y. McKay, her high school friend. They were married April 8, 2000, after being separated for 52 years as they followed their separate paths through life.

A 1947 graduate of Memorial High School, in Middleboro, she attended Westbrook Junior College, in Portland, where she studied journalism. Following her college, Joanne was employed by Thomas Brothers, in Middleboro, as a bookkeeper. Further employment was with Plymouth Shoe Company and Earth Shoes, both of Middleboro, in the position of scheduler, followed by accounting positions at Hughes Ford, of Middleboro, Chase Chevrolet, of Middleboro, and finally retired as the Bbusiness manager of the Halifax Country Club, Halifax, Massachusetts. She was also employed as a secretary to the Superintendent of Middleboro Public Schools.

Joanne was the widow of Foster McComiskey, Jr., to whom she was married for 31 years. Gene and Joanne relocated to Maine in 2001 where they enjoyed a life of retirement and volunteer work, mostly at MaineGeneral Hospital, Thayer Campus, in Waterville, and also at Four Seasons Medical Clinic and the Alfond Cancer Center, in Augusta. Joanne also served on the Middleboro finance committee, Middleboro Central Cemetery Committee (as treasurer), the Lakeville Cable Television committee, all located in Massachusetts, and the treasurer of All Souls Unitarian-Universalist Church, in Oakland.

She loved reading and traveling, visiting the United Kingdom and Scotland and devoting many hours of reading at their own home library with Gene.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Gene; several nieces; stepson, William Curtis McKay and wife Nancy, of Wilton, New Hampshire.

She was predeceased by her sister, Anna Louise Stevens (the mother of her nieces).

There will be no visitation hours. A graveside service will be held at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, in Augusta, at the convenience of the family.

FAIRFIELD – Michael Stanley Sr., 49, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer campus, in Waterville. He was born September 4, 1969, in Waterville.

He graduated from Lawrence High School, in Fairfield, in 1988. On June 13, 1992, he married Melissa Larsen, in Fairfield. He worked for Stanley’s Septic & Construction and owned and operated Mike Stanley’s sealcoating. He enjoyed spending time with family and working on his trucks.

Mike is survived by his wife of 26 years, Melissa M. (Larsen) Stanley; two daughters, Samantha M. Stanley, Shelby R. Stanley; son, Michael Stanley, Jr.; mother, Ruth Stanley; three brothers, Jack Stanley Jr. and wife Tina, Daniel Stanley Sr., Levi Stanley Sr. and wife Monique; sister, Elizabeth R. MARILYN G. THERIAULT

WINSLOW – Marilyn G. (Paquet) Theriault, 83, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, at her daughter’s home, in Winslow. She was born February 22, 1936, in Winslow, the daughter of Emile and Florence (Massé) Paquet.

She was educated and graduated in the schools of Winslow. In August of 1956, she married Joseph A. Theriault, at St. John the Baptist Church, in Winslow. She was employed for many years as a waitress at the Silent Woman and Bonanza Restaurant, at Mamouth Mart and retired from Keyes Fibre (now Huhtamaki), all in Waterville.

Hobbies/interests include spelling bee champion, candle pin state champion bowler, Bingo Aficionado (enthusiast), loved couples dancing, camping and playing cards. Especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandkids. She will always be remembered for her quick wit and great sense of humor.

LAWRENCE R. ROBINSON

FAIRFIELD – Lawrence R. Robinson, 52, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at home. Lawrence was a warrior that battled stage 4 pancreatic cancer for two years. He was born in Waterville, August 14, 1966, son of late Linda Robinson and Prescott Robinson, of Fairfield Center.

Lawrence attended Lawrence High School, in Fairfield. He was a very hard worker starting at a young age on farms. He worked for Maurice Bard Auto Body, C&J Trans­port, Valley Distributers and Town of Fairfield before building his own business, a heavy duty diesel truck garage, Robinson Repair. Lawrence had a unique set of skills that not many acquire. He was an incredibly knowledgeable superhuman that would help anyone. Lawrence loved working in his garage, antiquing, boating, hunting, fishing, jeeping, 4-wheeling, camping, snowmobiling, shooting guns, grilling, tractors and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, wife, family and friends.

Lawrence is survived by his best friend Rhonda, married on September 25, 1992, his daughter, Brandy; “son” in law Cameron; his granddaughter, Layla; grandson, Logan; Scott and Jenny Dostie, Nolly Dostie; Uncle Dale Adam ; two sisters, Robin and Donna; two brothers, Prescott and Robert.

He was predeceased by his mother Linda, his mother-in-law Laura Bennett, father-in-law Frank Bennett.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019, from 1-6 p.m., at the VFW, in Fairfield.

STEPHEN L. HASKELL

PALERMO­­ – Stephen L. Haskell, 85, of Palermo, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019,at Oak Grove Center, in Waterville. He was born in Palermo on April 3, 1933, the son of the late Wellman and Lucy (Fuller) Haskell.

Stephen attended Palermo schools and Erskine Academy, in South China.

He was a woodcutter, farmer, and an avid draft horse puller. He participated in professional draft horse pulling competitions in New England and Canada for 50 years, winning many blue ribbons and trophies. He enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. In recent years he also enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

He was predeceased by his parents, Wellman and Lucy Haskell; his spouse, Donna Jones Haskell; his siblings, Clayton Haskell, Jack Haskell, Joe Haskell, Bill Haskell, Pearl Hamilton, and Peggy Jones.

Stephen is survived by his companion, Donna Doolan; his children, Susan Cote and her husband, Paul, of Waterville, Steve Haskell and his wife, Mary, of Palermo, and Shirley Irish, of Winslow; and his sister, Rosalie Rood, of Albion.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 5 at 1 p.m. at Greeley Corner Cemetery, in Palermo. Family and friends are invited to gather following the service at Steve and Mary’s at 515 Jones Rd., Palermo.

LILLIAN M. WEBBER

WINSLOW – Lillian M. Webber, 93, of Winslow, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Augusta. Lillian was born on April 17, 1925, in Waterville, the daughter of Mary (Battit) and Elias George.

She attended local schools and graduated from Waterville High School.

Lillian enjoyed knitting, crocheting, spending time with her family, and was a member of Maine Rebekahs for several years. Living on the family farm, Lillian found joy in bailing hay with her husband, Merton, and had a way it fun for everyone involved.She loved her time spent at Owl’s Head, watching her grandchildren play or just simply holding Merton[‘s hand while they sat on the porch watching the boats float by. She also adored her leisurely car rides to Cadillac Mountain, New Hampshire, or Small Falls with a picnic lunch packed.

Lillian will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness, strong will, her readiness to forgive, and her delicious cooking-especially Syrian food. She always made sure there was room at the dinner table.

Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Merton, in 2014; her twin brother, Elias, and her brothers, Richard, Charles and Adrian.

Lillian is survived by her son, Ron Webber and wife, Audré; daughter, Deirtra Wing and husband, James, daughter, Darlene Morissette; grandchildren, Michael Webber and partner, Jayda, Joey Morissette, Robert Morissette, Jasmine Webber and partner, Michael; great-granddaughters, Sierra and Jorga; brother, Joe George and wife, Lauretta, of Connecticut; as well as many nieces and nephews.

VICKI S. BRYAN

WINSLOW – Vicki Sue (Whitley) Bryan, 44, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at her home, in Winslow, following a courageous battle with health problems for many years. She was born June 16, 1974, in Waterville, the daughter of Paul A. Sr. and Helen S. (Miller) Whitley.

She attended school at Valley Forge Christian College. Her hobbies included working with young children, spending time with her family, reading, and writing in her journal. She had a strong Christian faith and loved a variety of music from country to gospel, to classic rock. In her free time, she recently began playing Free Cell all the time. She had a love for giraffes.

Vicki is survived by her husband, Shawn M. Bryan, of Winslow; two children, Shawn M. Bryan, Jr and Suzanne R. Bryan; brother, Paul Whitley and wife Kim; step-mother, Heidi; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

SOUTH CHINA – Patsy B. Glidden, 69, of the Windsor Road, died Monday, March 18, 2019, at her home following an extended illness. She was born on the family farm in China on April 2, 1949, the daughter of Maxwell Bumps and Elizabeth (McCaslin) Bumps.

Patsy was a 1967 graduate of Erskine Academy, in China. She was a stay at home mom for many years, worked at Beth’s Family Hairstyling as a receptionist and was employed as a food service worker at Erskine Academy for several years.

Patsy was predeceased by her parents and a daughter, Libby A. Glidden.

Surviving are two daughters: Betsy Glidden, of Westbrook, and Buffy Whitaker, of Scarborough; one son, Bruce Glidden, of Scarborough; her companion, Joseph Lloyd Pilsbury, of South China; a brother, Ronald A. Bumps, of South China; a sister, Bonnie B. Studley, of China; 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ROBERT E. FENNELL

ALBION – Robert E. Fennell, Jr., 93, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at his home in Albion. He was born March 23, 1925, in Eastondale, Massa­chus­etts, the son of Robert E., Sr. and Jennie (Bowers) Fennell.

He attended schools in Brockton, Massachusetts. On December 14, 1946, he married Priscilla Perry, in Brockton, Massachusetts. Priscilla and Robert were married for 72 years. He was employed by Draper Brothers, of Canton, Massachusetts, for 27 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, camping, was a Red Sox fan, loved his dogs and cats.

Robert is survived by his wife, Priscilla L. (Perry) Fennell, of Albion; son, Robert E. Fennell III, of Albion; two daughters, Virginia L. Fitch and husband David, of Florida, Debbie Fennell-stern and husband Joseph, of Massachusetts; two grandsons, David L Fitch, Jr. and wife Patricia, of Massachusetts, Robert E. Fennell IV and wife Leslie, of Maine; granddaughter, Bridget S. Bolduc, of Massachusetts; great-granddaughter, Eva P. Sullivan, of Massachusetts.

JANICE O. PELOTTE

VASSALBORO – Janice Ola (Lindberg) Pelotte, 51, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019, due to complications from pneumonia. Janice was born August 4, 1967, the only child of Eileen (Marden) Ronco and Erek Lindberg.

She graduated from Winslow High School and Southern Maine Vocational College. While in high school, she was active with WHS Marching Band Color Guard and the 20th Maine Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.

Janice worked at Colby College, dining services, for many years. She devoted all her time raising her two daughters alone.

Janice was predeceased by her grandparents, Frank W. and Ola Marden; and aunt and uncle, Frank (Skip) and Susan Marden.

WINSLOW – Following a courageous battle with multiple myeloma, Paul A. Lessard Sr., 65, of Winslow, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019. He was the child of Reginald and Simone (LaFlamme) Lessard.

Following a 26-year career in retail, Paul found his passion teaching children at Good Will-Hinckley and Harland area schools. His true love in life was his family, he lived his life to the fullest, devoting his time to raising his wonderful, loving family. In retirement, Paul enthusiastically researched his family’s genealogy and loved to share family facts when gathered with his children. Paul could also be found spending time with any of his many grandchildren. He especially enjoyed going to super hero movies or discussing comics with his oldest grandson, Logan. Paul has been a long time active member at Winslow Baptist Church. Paul’s loving and caring heart shines on through his children and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother, Simone.

He is survived by his father, Reginald Lessard, of Waterville; wife, Anne, of Winslow; daughter, Sarah Phillips and husband John and their children, Logan, Matthew, and Gabriel, of Vassalboro; son, Paul Lessard Jr., wife Rachel and their daughter Adyson, of Winslow; daughter, Amanda Young and husband, Kevin and their children, Samuel, Levi and Asher, of Bangor.

SANDY LYNN TAYLOR

WHITEFIELD – Sandy Lynn Taylor, 62, of Whitefield, died Thursday, March 14, 2019, at the Togus Veterans Hospice Unit. She was born in La Russell, Missouri. on August 15, 1956, the daughter of Lenville and Virginia (Ramsey) Smith.

Sandy was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School in Sarcoxie, Missouri.

Sandy enlisted in the United States Air Force, in January 1978. It became her 20-year career, retiring in January 1998 as SSGT. She served several tours of duty overseas, one where she was stationed in Kuwait, during the Persian Gulf War. She was very proud to have served her country.

She married the love of her life, Carlos R. Taylor Sr., and together, they traveled extensively all over the world including, France, Germany and Canada, just to name a few. Sandy was devoted to her family, especially her parents, using all means of communication to remain in contact with them during her tours of duty in the military. Once she retired, she began a new full-time career, managing her husband. She was very involved with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, also contributed to the discovering the Jewish Jesus.

Sandy’s focus in life was God, flag and country.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Carlos R. Taylor Sr., of Whitefield; her parents, Lenville and Virginia Smith, of La Russell, Missouri.; a daughter, Cala R. Taylor, of Dover, Delaware; two sons; a sister, Lois Ann (Smith) Shearer, of Branson, Missouri.; one granddaughter, Aleen; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

SOUTH CHINA­­ – Janice E. Payson, 72, died Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Eastern Maine Medical Center, in Bangor. She was born in Augusta on June 22, 1946, the daughter of Burton and Helen (Trombley) Williams.

Janice was co-owner of Sonny’s Seafood, in Readfield.

She enjoyed gardening, puzzles and baking. Her two cats, Patches and Shadow, brought her joy daily and Janice loved chatting with her many friends.

She was predeceased by her brother Burton Williams Jr., her husband Clarence (Sonny) Payson Jr.; and her son Frank Payson.

She is survived by her boyfriend of many years, Donald Campbell; her two sons, Floyd Frost, of Readfield and Brian Frost and wife Jennifer, of Fayette; two brothers, Curtis Williams and wife Brigette, of Readfield and Donald Williams and wife Gail, of Winthrop; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Spring burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Date to be announced.

VICKI S. (WHITLEY) BRYAN

WINSLOW – Vicki Sue (Whitley) Bryan, 44, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at her home in Winslow, following a courageous battle with health problems for many years. She was born June 16, 1974, in Waterville, the daughter of Paul A. Sr. and Helen S. (Miller) Whitley.

She attended school at Valley Forge Christian College.

Her hobbies included working with young children, spending time with her family, reading, and writing in her journal. She had a strong Christian faith and loved a variety of music from country to gospel, to classic rock. In her free time, she recently began playing Free Cell all the tie. She had a love for giraffes.

Vicki is survived by her husband, Shawn M. Bryan, of Winslow; two children, Shawn M. Bryan Jr. and Suzanne R. Bryan; brother, Paul Whitely and wife, Kim; step-mother, Heidi; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

SOUTH CHINA – Patsy B. Glidden, 69, of the Windsor Road, died Tuesday, March 18, 2019, at her home following an extended illness. She was born on the family farm in China, on April 2, 1949, the daughter of Maxwell Bumps and Elizabeth (McCaslin) Bumps.

Patsy was a 1967 graduate of Erskine Academy, in China.

She was a stay-st-home mom for many years, worked at Beth’s Family Hairstyling as a receptionist and was employed as a food service worker at Erskine Academy for several years.

Patsy was predeceased by her parents; and a daughter, Libby A. Glidden.

Surviving are two daughters, Betsy Glidden, of Westbrook, and Buffy Whitaker, of Scarborough; one son, Bruce Glidden, of Scarborough; her companion, Joseph Lloyd Pilsbury, of South China; a sister, Bonnie B. Studley, of China; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

JOSEPH N. POULIN

WINSLOW – Joseph Norman Poulin, 92, of Winslow, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, in Winslow. He was the son of Joseph Albert and Marie Dora (Michaud) Poulin.

Norman was a Seamen First Class in the United States Navy, serving his country during World War II. He was a longtime supervisor at Colby College in their physical plant operations until his retirement. Norman lived in his log cabin, that he built on Bay Street, for 40 years.

He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Winslow, where he was an Acolyte, a leader for the Amore Dei Prayer group, and a member of the St. John Grotto group. Norman was a longtime member of the Winslow Fire Department, Winslow MacCrillis-Rousseau VFW Post 3835, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Winslow.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Lita (Tibbetts) Poulin; his sister, Jackie Marcoux; two step-sons, David and William Brill.

Norman is survived by son, Gary Poulin and wife, Louise, of Benton; step-son Timothy Brill; three grandchildren, Christian D. Poulin, of West Gardiner, Jason G. Poulin and wife, Lora Joy, of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Jessica Willette and husband Jeff, of Waterville; great-grandchildren, Avery, Hunter and Tatum Willette.

JEFFERSON – Norma Ellen (Weeks) Parlin, 80, of Jefferson, passed away on March 4, 2019, following a long courageous battle with cancer. Norma was born on November 16, 1938, in Whitefield, the daughter of Theodore and Eunice (Grady) Weeks.

She attended Wiscasset High School. She married Edward on October 17, 1959, raised two children and she retired from Digital Equipment, in Augusta. Over the years she enjoyed family functions, camping, traveling with her sister-in-law, playing beano and rarely missed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals.

Norma was predeceased by her brothers; Theodore Jr. (Joe), Raymond, Darrell (Eli), Richard and Robert (Pete), and sister Sandra Weeks.

Norma is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward F. Parlin, of Jefferson; son, Richard A. Parlin Sr. and wife Jean, of Jefferson; daughter, Shelly (Parlin) Brann and fiancé Chris Hathorne, of Windsor; stepson, Edward A. Parlin and wife Rose, of South Jefferson; five grandchildren; Richard A. Parlin Jr., of Jefferson; Erica (Parlin) Ontiveros and husband Rafael, of Windsor, Nicole (Brann) Poulin and husband Steve, of North Monmouth, Mark Brann Jr. and wife Courtney, of Oakland, Ryan Parlin, of South Jefferson; six great-grandchildren; Christopher, Jasmine, Sophia, Luke, Wyatt and Tanner, several nieces and nephews. WINDSOR – Brenda Joyce O’Neill, 68, of Windsor, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019. She was born on October 3, 1950, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the daughter of Otto Albert Pearson and Helen May (Bradley) Pearson.

She grew up in this small town a happy young girl, where she developed her love of the ocean with most of her time spent with her best friend Trudy O’Neill Hervieux, who later became her sister-in-law.

Many years later she moved to Maine where she spent the rest of her years as a single mother with her five children. Brenda was lucky enough to meet friends that she cherished and considered more important than just a friend.

Brenda loved her family days where they would all get together and have dinner.

She was predeceased by her parents; a granddaughter “her angel” Kayla O’Neill.

Brenda is survived by her five children, Michelle and David Knox, Donald O”Neill, Denise and Broadus Henson, Kristie Kenney and Eric O’Neill; 11 grandchildren, David Knox, Katrina O’Neill, Jesse Knox, Katrina O”Neill, Jesse Knox, Brittany Knox, Crystal Morse, Tamara Morton, Bobby Morton, Cody and Nicole Knox, Emily O”Neill, Kameron O”Neill and Kylie Bechard; eight great-grandchildren, Kallynne O’Neill, Kaiden Knox, Hunter Knox, Owen Mayo, Jyreese Morton, Alianna Morton, Mason Lane and Chloe Lane.

There will be a celebration of life dinner on May 26, 2019, at 2 p.m. at American Legion, Easter Avenue, Augusta, where everyone who would like to honor and remember her is welcome.

ROLAND S. CARTER

WINSLOW – Roland Stanley Carter, 81, of Winslow, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 24, 2019. Roland was born in Winslow on January 15, 1938, to Alfred “Fred” and Mabel Carter and was one of 11 children.

He enlisted in the Air Force at age 17 and went on to serve his country for 20 years. While stationed in Germany, he met Anna Berg, of Neidenbach. They were married on September 26, 1958, in Spangdahlem, Germany.

Roland retired as a master sergeant in 1974, and settled down with his family on West Street, in Waterville. He was very proud of his military service, especially the time spent in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of MacCrillis-Rousseau VFW Post#8835, in Winslow.

Roland became a Union employee of Maine Central Railroad, in Waterville, and worked as an engineer, conductor and flagman for 24 years, until retiring in 2000 at age 62. Roland was an extremely hard worker, a jack of all trades and a man of many talents. He was known for his witty humor and willingness to give the shirt off his back to help family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In his later years, Roland was a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast who assembled hundreds.

Roland was predeceased by his parents; son, Jeffrey; his sisters, Jeannine Morisette, and Dolores Carter; and his brothers, Donald, Jean, Bob, Francis, Richard and Fernand.

Roland is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Carter; his son, Joseph Carter and wife, Carla; his son, John Carter, Major USAF (retired); his daughter, Jennifer Foust and husband, Joseph; grandchildren: Derek, Jason, Jerrit, Ryan, Sarah and Amanda; his sister, Cecile Trapnell; his brother, Patrick Carter; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

LAURA F. STEVENS

OAKLAND – Laura F. (Reed) Stevens, 94, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Lakewood Continuing Care, in Waterville, within minutes after visiting with her family. She was born November 16, 1924, in Augusta, the daughter of Harold and Ethelyn (Morrill) Reed.

She worked for over 45 years at the Diamond Match and Cascade Woolen Mill, both in Oakland, until her retirement in 1987. She was a life member of The Decker-Simmons Post#51 American Legion Auxiliary, VFW, GAR and DAV. She belonged to the Oakland Parks Recreation Seniors since its beginning and loved her adopted children.

She was married to Gerald L. Stevens Sr. for 53 years until his death on December 20, 1995, and together they raised 10 children and were so proud of how they all completed their education and the career paths they had chosen.

A few of her passions were watching the Boston Red Sox, new England Patriots and traveling in her younger years to California, New York, and especially the ocean with her friends and family.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband Gerald; sons David and Stevie; infant daughter Faith; grandson Lloyd York Jr.; sisters Lelia Luce and Maxine Gallagher; brothers Robert, Edmond (Buzzy) and Thomas Reed and adopted daughter Sandra O’Neal.

She is survived by her children, Judy Nichols (Bob French), Pamela Chartrand, Barbara (Rick) Haskins, Donna (Steve) Bolduc, Randy (Diana) Stevens, Jeffrey (Lisa) Stevens. Barry and Scott Stevens, adopted son Doug Foster; daughters-in-law, Brenda Stevens, AnnMarie Stevens and Laurie Thomas; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her adopted granddaughter Trudy Albair; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for May 23, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.

FAIRFIELD – Jane Charlotte Moreau, 76, of Fairfield, died on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Augusta. She was born on November 17, 1942, in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, one of six children of Edna May (Eddy) and Roy C. Wilkins.

She grew up in Farmington, New Hampshire and over the years she worked in various shoe shops in Maine and New Hampshire.

Jane was a member of the VFW MacCrillis-Rousseau Post#8835, in Winslow, and enjoyed camping, knitting, sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She also took pleasure in her flowers and was an avid reader. She will be remembered for her caring and helpful ways, as well as being a great pastry cook.

Jane is survived by her husband of nearly 23 years, Ronald Moreau, of Fairfield; her daughter, Terri Weston, of Barrington, New Hampshire; her son, Dana Ricker and his wife, Kristine, of Farmington, New Hampshire; her daughter, Christine Torno, of Lebanon; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MILFORD DOWNER

WINSLOW – Milford Downer, 80, of Winslow, died Monday, March 4, 2019, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Augusta. He was born in Freedom on April 29, 1936, the son of Freemont and Genevieve (McDonald) Downer.

Milford graduated from Freedom Academy and worked for several local employers including Scott Paper, in Winslow, and Lee Brothers, in Albion. However, he spent most of his career as a woodworker. He worked many years at Duratherm, in Vassalboro, and eventually retired from Benton Hardwood Lumber, in Benton. In his free time, Milford loved fishing and camping with friends. He had an appreciation for a great campfire and the stories that accompanied it. He took the opportunity to share unique travel experiences with his family including two cross country driving trips to visit the natural and historical attractions of the United States.

He was predeceased by his sister Maxine Fowler.

Milford is survived by his wife of 49 years Gail (Young) Downer; niece Cathy Hotham, her husband Fred and son Caleb; numerous other nieces and nephews; brothers Allan and Letitia Downer, Clayton and Jeanne Downer, and Rodney and Linda Downer; and sisters Bertha and Donald Maxim, Carlene and Ray Bourgoin, Norene and Jeffrey Linscott.

BETTY M. VEILLEUX

FAIRFIELD CENTER – Betty M. Veilleux, 92, of Fairfield Center, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019. She was born in Waterville on January 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Hugh and Fern (Donna) Andrews.

She graduated from Waterville High School, class of 1945. She spent 59 wonderful years of marriage to her husband, Kaiser, who passed away in 2006.

When her children were young, Betty taught Sunday school at Getchell Street Baptist Church and Fairfield Center United Methodist Church.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Knitting Club, and Quilting Clubs, and made many beautiful quilts for each of her children, and grandchildren, and showed her work at many quilt shows.

Betty volunteered at MaineGeneral Medical Center in the “Doll Factory” for 13 years, making dolls for sick children, and in her later years was a member of the “Silver Sneakers” at Champions Fitness Club, in Waterville.

Besides her parents and her husband, Betty was predeceased by her infant daughter, Paula, and her siblings, Donald Andrews, Charles Andrews, Hugh Andrews, Beverly Bickford and Leone Marble.

Betty will be sadly missed by her children, Gail Berry and her husband, David, Steve Veilleux, Jayne Woods, Kim Denis and her husband, Paul, and Melanie Veilleux; her granddaughters, Amy Foss and her husband, Gerald, and Emily Veilleux; her grandsons, Brad Bessey and his wife, Vicki, Brock Dennis and his wife, Rileigh, Alex Gerald, and Blake Gerald; and her great-grandsons, Noah Denis, Elliot Gerald, Ryker Hillman, and Jack Gerald.

FAIRFIELD – Pamela Baker, 60, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019, following a courageous battle with leukemia. Pam was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on March 3, 1958. She was the daughter of Kenneth A. and Virginia Galipo.

She graduated from Shrewsbury High School, in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, in 1976.

Pamela owned and operated Lighthouse Bible & Gift from 1999 until it closed 2016. She knew hundreds of customers by name along with their interests.

Pam was married for 42 years to her high school sweetheart. She met Dennis at church when she was 15. They dated until she graduated high school and were married on August 28, 1976.

Pam was a member of Kennebec Valley Baptist Church. She has decorated the church for the past 29 years. She decorated for every holiday and especially enjoyed making the auditorium look special during Easter and Christmas. She also assisted in the tech booth each Sunday. She loved to crochet, making various animals and other creations.

She was predeceased by her mother, Virginia, father, Kenneth and brother, Kenneth.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis; her son, David; and daughter, Julie and husband, Scott. She had three grandchildren who live in Australia, Noah, Christoper and Gabrella.

VASSALBORO – Douglas Paul Perry, 69, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019, following an extended period of ill health. Doug was born to Marie I. and Benedict E. Perry on July 17, 1949, living his whole life in North Vassalboro.

He attended elementary school there, graduated from Winslow High School in 1967, and attended Unity College. He was married to Gail Lindsey in Owl’s Head, on June 30, 1973. They made their home in North Vassalboro.

Doug was a member of the Maine Army National Guard froom 1969 through 1975. He was employed by Scott Paper, SD Warren, Sappi Fine Paper for 35 years, retiring in 2004. Doug was a member of Augusta Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, and American Legion Post #126. He was a licensed Ham Radio Operator; call sign KA1YBJ

An avid NASCAR fan, he rarely missed a televised race and a chance to see his favorite driver, Kevin Harvick, be victorious.

Doug enjoyed golfing when he was able and RV camping with friends and family, yearly trips to Eustis, Rangeley, the Camden area and Acadia were a must. In 2013, the Perrys took a cross country trip via motorhome to South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, and Arizona. Seeing the Grand Canyon was the highlight of his trip.

Doug was predeceased by his parents Marie and Benedict Perry; and a brother-in-law, James F. Oldroyd.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail; his brother Reginald Perry and wife Julia, of Clinton; his sister Cynthia Brown, of Vassalboro; sister-in-law. Sada L. Oldroyd and brother-in-law, Wayne E. Lindsey, Sr., both of Owl’s Head; cousins Carol and Wayne Brown, of South Thomaston; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

PATRICIA B. JONES

PALERMO – Patricia B. Jones, 76, of Palermo, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Augusta, on April 4, 1942, the daughter of the late Merton (Glidden) Brann and Mary (Sabin) Brann French.

A graduate of Erskine Academy, she then received her diploma in nursing from Maine Medical Center School of Nursing. She continued her education at University of Maine at Farmington and earned a bachelor’]s degree in health education. Following graduation from nursing school, Patricia worked briefly at the State Hospital in Augusta. She then continued her nursing career at Augusta General Hospital (now Maine General) where she worked for 40 years, primarily in the coronary care unit and as a night shift supervisor. She was also instrumental in developing the cardiac rehab program at Augusta General Hospital.

She was a devoted member of the Palermo Christian Church and was active in many ministries over the years, including missions committee, clothing exchange shop, and deacons. She even participated in a medical mission trip to Haiti to better understand her son-in-law’s culture.

Patricia was a very creative person. She made countless quilts for her children, grandchildren, friends, and charitable organizations as well. She was a member of several quilting guilds. She was also an active member of the Windsor Historical Society and had a great interest in genealogy. She spent years researching family roots.

Patricia was an incredibly kind and selfless person, always helping and thinking of others. She had a very special relationship with her great-granddaughter, Ava Foster. They had many adventures and explored the world together, by visiting libraries and museums in various towns, and shopping at thrift stores.

She was predeceased by her parents and a stepsister, Delores Witham.

She is survived by her husband, David Jones, of Palermo; daughter, Elizabeth Chamberlain, of Palermo, daughter, Rebecca D’Haiti and husband Carrel, of Newburgh; son Peter Jones and his wife Lisa, of Orrington, son Andrew Jones and his wife, Michele, of Matawan, New Jersey; brothers, Dave Brann and wife, Molly, of Homer, Alaska, Richmond Brann and wife, Nancy, of Somerville, Robert Brann and wife, Priscilla, of Windsor, Timothy Brann and wife, Sue, of Keyport, Washington, Steven French and wife, Jane, of Palermo; stepbrother Laurice French, of Somerville; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on March 2, at 1 p.m., at the Palermo Christian Church, in Palermo. A family burial will be held at a later date in Alna.

PETER M. JOHNSON, 71, of Sidney, passed awaty on Monday, February 4, 2019, at MaineGeneral Rehab and Nursing at Glenridge, Comfort and Care, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Locally, he is survived by a step-daughter, Lea Studholme and husband Joe, of South China.

ROGER A. FORTIN II, 47, of East Pittston, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Locally, he is survived by his sister, Greta Cuimmings and husband Todd, of Whitefield; nephew Patrick Doe and significant other, Rikki Bryant, and niece Stephanie Doe and significant other Peter Schultz, all of Windsor.

DANIEL N. VEILLEUX, 55, of Rumford, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019. Locally, he is survived by a niece, Brittany (Yorks) Vought and husband Luke, of Oakland.
