Worcester Polytechnic Institute announces fall 2017 dean’s list

The following local residents were among 1,608 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), in Worcester Massachusetts, named to the university’s dean’s list for academic excellence for the fall 2017 semester.

McKenzie Brunelle, of Sidney, is a member of the class of 2018 majoring in biomedical engineering.

Madison Michaud, of Vassalboro, is a member of the class of 2019 majoring in biomedical engineering.

Molly Silsby, of Augusta, is a member of the class of 2021 majoring in mechanical engineering.

Students named to Colby-Sawyer College dean’s list for Fall 2017

Colby-Sawyer College, in New London, New Hampshire, recognized 254 students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2017 fall semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.

Ross Sirois, of Norridgewock, a member of the class of 2018, majoring in biology.

Haley Carver, of Sidney, a member of the class of 2020, majoring in sociology.

Chelsea Perry, of Oakland, a member of the class of 2021, majoring in business administration.

Godleski named to Genesee Community College Fall 2017 Provost’s List

Mikayla Godleski, of Sidney, was among 228 students from Genesee Community College, in Batavia, New York, who were named to the provost’s list for the fall 2017 semester.

McKenzie Brunelle returns following intensive research project

McKenzie Brunelle, of Sidney, a member of the class of 2018, majoring in biomedical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), in Worcester, Massachusetts, was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense, hands-on research project in London, England. The project was titled A Plan to Improve the Internet Presence of Commonside.

In their project summary, the students wrote, “The goal of this project was to give recommendations on how CCDT can improve its Internet presence to attract the attention of more sponsors and community members.”

 

Colby-Sawyer College names Haley Carver to dean’s list

Colby-Sawyer College, in New London, New Hampshire, has named Haley Carver, of Sidney, to the dean’s list for academic achievement. Carver, whose major is sociology, is a member of the class of 2020.

To qualify for the dean’s list students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.

Godleski named to Genesee Community College fall dean’s list

Mikayla Godleski, a resident, of Sidney, was among the 312 students named to Genesee Community College dean’s list for the fall 2016 semester, in Batavia, New York. All full- and part-time students honored on the Dean’s List have earned a quality point index of 3.50 to 3.74.

Carver named to Becker College dean’s list

Ashley Carver, of Sidney, was named to the Becker College Dean’s List, in Worcester, Massachusetts, for the fall 2016 semester. Carver is pursing an associate of science degree in veterinary technology.

Girl Scouts bake pies for dinner

The Arnold Trail Girl Scouts gathered on November 22 to  bake 188 pies for the Messalonskee High School Thanksgiving dinner.  The troop donated all the supplies to make the pies. Approximately 1,000 people attended the dinner. The following troops were represented: #1783 Belgrade, #2204 China, #9, #15 and #906 Oakland, #375, #376, #1523, #1776 and #1785 Sidney, #2044 Vassalboro, and #1254 and #1557 Waterville.

Colby-Sawyer welcomes new students to campus

Colby-Sawyer College, in New London, New Hampshire, welcomed 297 new students to campus, including first-year students, transfers and the college’s first cohort of graduate students set to earn a master’s of science in nursing.
