TABITHA L. BLAIR

BAREFOOT BAY, Florida, and Whitefield – Tabitha Lisa Blair, 41, died Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, in Melbourne, Florida, after succumbing to COVID pneumonia, following periods of diabetic ketoacidosis. Tabitha was born in Augusta, on September 9, 1979, the third child of Terry L. and Sally A. (Bowden) Blair.

“Tabi,” as her family and childhood friends new her, attended Whitefield Consolidated School and graduated from Erskine Academy, in South China, in 1997. She received a B.A. from the University of Maine at Augusta and was also enrolled in the horticulture program at Oregon State University.

Tabitha worked as a florist at Shaw’s Supermarket, in Augusta, and at the Gardiner Area Boys and Girls Club before beginning her career as an educator, teaching at Somerville and Chelsea schools. She found her stride as a fourth grade teacher at Treasure Coast Elementary School, in Sebastian, Florida. She was known as a no-nonsense teacher, who loved bright colors, fun decorations, and especially pink flamingos. As one of her students phrased it, Ms. Blair was the “G.O.A.T.” at math!

Tabi grew up as a “Mainer” playing various sports, hunting, camping, and swimming in the cold waters of the ocean or mountain streams – but always craved warmer weather. Ultimately, it was her love of sand and forever sunny skies that pulled her to Florida in 2016. Despite loving her new home, it was important to her that her ties to Maine remained strong, and she returned for several weeks each year with her children, Emma and Luke. They always created a “Summer Fun Bucket List,” which included new adventures and fond traditions, including the annual Blair family trip to Dolly Copp Campground, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Tabi enjoyed gardening and secretly dreamed of one day working at Disney World’s Annual Flower and Garden Festival. She spent many hours planting and pruning gardens as part of the Garden Club at TCE and at her parents’ homes in Maine and Florida.

She shared a special bond with her parents, including the same sense of humor as her dad. She was a fantastic cook, mastering all the family favorites – lasagna, specialty party dips, and the world’s best whoopie pie (a recipe handed down from her mother).

Tabi also loved to read. Perhaps her favorite days were those soaking up the sun and salty air on the beach with a book in her lap, while her kids played in the surf.

Ms. Blair is survived by her children, Emma C. Blair and Luke M. Blair; her parents, Terry L. and Sally A. Blair, of Whitefield; her brother, Terry L. Blair, Jr. and his wife Terri, of Whitefield; her older sister, Tamara L. Blair Kirk and her husband, Robert, of Augusta; and her younger sister, Anne Dora T. Bishop and her husband, Christopher, of Whitefield; as well as 11 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Sheepscot Valley Community Church, located at 25 Pittston Road, Whitefield.

Although named after two maternal grandmothers, Viola and Ruth, she was soon dubbed “Sis” by her older sister, Alice, and the family nickname stuck with her throughout her life.

ANDREW B. MOSHER

FAIRFIELD – Andrew B. Mosher, 55, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, following a brief illness. Andy was born on March 9, 1966, in Waterville.

His younger years were spent playing with his siblings on the “Old Hoxie Homestead”, in North Fairfield, and playing hide-and-go-seek behind the trees in the apple orchard, going rabbit hunting with dad, fishing at Grammy and Grampy’s camp, and being Grampy Bernard’s little shadow.

He was a graduate of Lawrence High School, in Fairfield. He enjoyed motocross racing. His passion was hunting, fishing, canoeing, trapping and more. The outdoors was imprinted on Andy’s soul and he enjoyed Maine beyond measure—taking pride in being a member of the “Big Buck Club,” journeying to the top of “the mountain” with his dad and brothers to bear hunt, journeying to Small Falls, in Rangely, with his children and grandchildren, and journeying to the family camp in The Moosehead Lake Region.

To watch Andy paddle into camp was like whispers on the water — this was magical. Andy loved family, and they cherished his hugs, his laugh, and “The Andy Dance.” A dance that required a whole lot of the dance floor and a whole lot of love for the Saint Patrick’s Day traditions. He loved dancing a jig with his mom to the sound of country music. He loved family gatherings, sitting around the campfire, enjoying lobsters, and reminiscing through stories. His heart was as big as the State of Maine, always willing to help family and friends: working on the farm, helping with plumbing and heating, or simply offering his muzzle loader to his sister so she could “get her deer.”

To say Andy was loyal is an understatement; he believed in hard work, loyalty to the job (Waterville Parks and Rec), which he loved, and the SAPPI wood yard where he worked for nearly 20 years. Loyal to Fairfield, never missing a Friday night football game whether he knew any of the players or not. Loyal to the Red Sox, The Patriots, and NASCAR. Loyal to his family, his dogs, his treasured childhood friends, and the friends he met along his path here on earth.

Although Andy did not serve in the military himself, he was a strong supporter. He had great pride that his grandfather and his great uncles served in World War II, his father in the Korean war, his cousin Jack in Afghanistan. His son Daniel, served in Iraq, and nephew Matthew is currently stationed in Germany.

Andy is survived by his mother, Sheila Smith (husband Ron) and father, Richard Mosher (wife Judy); his beloved Shirley; and children Jacqueline Stanley and Daniel Stanley (wife Paige); grandchildren: Jeremiah, Daniel, and Bailey; brother Rick (wife Mary), sisters: JoAnna (husband Dennis), Belinda (husband Mike), and Jesse (husband Andrew); nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at The Victor Grange, in Fairfield Center, on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 1 p.m. Bring your stories with you.

Arrangements under the direction and care of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The House in the Woods https://www.houseinthewoods.org , a military and family outdoor hunting, fishing, and recreational retreat in Maine.

VICTOR G. STIMPSON

AUGUSTA – Victor Gerald aka (Sonny) Stimpson, 95, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020, just two weeks shy of his 96th birthday. He was born Tuesday, September 2, 1924, in Augusta, the son of Victor B. Stimpson and Ethel (Gerald) Stimpson.

He attended China schools, graduating from Erskine Academy, in South China, then attended Business School. World War II interrupted his studies, and he joined the Army Air Force on November 20, 1944, at the age of 20, flying B25 bomber planes overseas. When the war came close to ending, he flew disabled bombers back to America, on one trip arriving in time to welcome the birth of his daughter, Pamela. He had received a Bronze Service Star and other citations prior to his discharge, serving his country with honor.

When he returned home to South China, he worked with his father and in a few years operated the family business, Suburban Sales, a Chevrolet dealership, that was founded in 1928. He later owned car businesses in Augusta and Largo, Florida. In 2002 he moved to Tallahassee, Florida, and immediately created a job for himself at King Arthur’s Tools. Did he know anything about eBay, a webstore or the internet? Of course not, but that didn’t stop him from building his own eBay store, then successfully proceeded to sell tools and other products for the next 18 years. Just prior to his passing, he planned his 96th birthday party with Maine lobsters and Apalachicola oysters.

Victor lived for his family, friends, and the community. He was an active member of the Lafayette Presbyterian Church. He assisted in Men’s Monthly Breakfast, helped with yard work, purchased food for the homeless shelter and was a deacon. He took his responsibility with the church very seriously and when asked to do something, he always said “Yes”. Through the Presbyterian Church he learned about Thornwell Home for Children and started making monthly contributions. Just before he died, he purchased six books for six children and got so much joy out of seeing the photo Thornwell staff sent him of the children with their books.

Victor enjoyed reading, swimming, listening to music, playing cribbage, watching sports and movies. He loved talking Bucs and Seminole football. But most of all he loved being on a lake. In Maine the family had a summer cottage on China Lake and when he moved to Tallahassee, he enjoyed hours at his daughter’s log cabin on Lake Talquin. Sitting on the front porch telling stories and gently rolling in the rocking chair with his furry friend, Maisha.

Victor was a compassionate and patient man, evidenced by the loving way he cared for his wife, Hilda, for several years. He was more than just Gramps: he was a loving husband, supportive father, grandfather, mentor, friend and Masonic brother. With everything he did, Victor had an mischievous, impish sense of humor who loved playing jokes on people. Creative and tenacious, he loved the art of the deal and was skillful at it, an ability he obviously honed as a car dealer.

Victor dedicated most of his years to Masons and received his 70-year pin, a major achievement. Not only was he a Mason, but he also belonged to Shriners International, served as treasurer for his local temple and contributed to Shriners Hospitals for Children. He exemplified the Shrine motto: “No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child.” One of Victor’s proudest moments was when grandson Jerry also became a Mason. He always appreciated and enjoyed his long chats with him.

His daughter, Pamela, was devoted to him and he was equally supportive of her, as well as being Pamela’s spiritual inspiration. They had a special “Daddy/Daughter” relationship and spent many years sharing stories, reading books, talking and laughing together. He was also very proud of his granddaughters, Paige, and Kelly, as they both became successful, professional women, always wanting to get the latest news on their careers.

He was an excited great-grandfather when Nick became the father of three beautiful girls. Victor loved showing photos of the girls whenever anyone came by for a visit. From the minute his great-grandson Theo (Teddy) was born, Gramps became very active in his life, both in Largo and Tallahassee. He enjoyed going to his high school baseball games and watching him grow into a man. Everyone admired his wisdom and sought it out, knowing that they would benefit from his many life experiences.

Just prior to his passing, Victor received a letter from AAA advising him that based on his membership of 83 years, he would receive, forever more, a reduction of $75 in annual dues. He joined when he was 13 years old and has a rare, black AAA card. That says a lot about him in so many ways!

He never said “Goodbye”, ending every conversation with “Good enough, I’m up to speed”.

Victor was preceded in death by his mother and father, his son Gerald B. Stimpson, daughter Paula Fuechsel and wife, Hilda L. Stimpson.

He is survived by his daughter Pamela S. Aveling and husband Arthur; grandson Gerald (Jerry) Hammock and his wife Lisa, Nicholas Fuechsel; granddaughters Paige H. Blechinger and her husband Eric, and Kelly Fuechsel; one great-grandson, Theodore Hammock, fiancé of Meredith Auer; and three great-granddaughters, Haleigh Potter, Eloise and Madeline Fuechsel; Two step-grandsons, Justin and Andrew Aveling; and two step-great-grandchildren, Lawson and Tara Grace Aveling; his sister Pauline W. (Stimpson) Glidden, nephews and nieces.

The Interment of Lt. Flight Officer Victor G. Stimpson USAAC will be at 2 p.m., on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Florida 32311.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gerald B. Stimpson Memorial Scholarship Fund, at Erskine Academy, 309 Windsor Road, South China, ME 04358, or the Lafayette Presbyterian Church, 4220 Mahan Drive Tallahassee, FL 32308.

ROLAND MICHAUD

WINSLOW – Roland Michaud passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, re-joining with his wife, Ann, of 65 years, who had passed away just 13 days before.

Roland was raised in Waterville by his father, J. Alcid Michaud and mother, Jenny Mae Michaud. Roland was a graduate of Coburn Classical Institute, in Waterville, and Franklin Technical College, in Boston, Massachusetts. Roland worked his entire career for New England Telephone and Telegraph.

The measure of a person is not only what they have accomplished in their life, but more importantly how and why they have accomplished those things. For Roland, the what in life was merely a conduit for the why. Roland often said, if you’re going to take from the community you live in, you are going to find ways to give back.

True to his word, Roland’s “why” in life was to serve the needs of his family, his community, his country, and his God. Roland was instrumental in establishing the first Boys Scout Troop, in Winslow, and went on to be a key leader in the yearly Boy Scout gatherings at Camp Bomazeen, in Belgrade. Roland believed that giving youth structure and purpose was foundational to their successes in life. Consequently, besides the support for the Boy Scouts, Roland was the first director of parks and recreation for Winslow (a position not yet established and one in which he took no pay) installing many of the first playground apparatuses by himself under the watchful eye of his adolescent son, Mike.

When approached by several members of the community to help establish a local credit union, Roland’s leadership and drive proved instrumental in what would become the Winslow Federal Community Credit Union, of which he served many years as its president and board chairman. Roland was also instrumental in establishing the form of government in Winslow which exists today. In the process he served for almost 40 years on Winslow’s Town Council, many of those as council chairman.

Roland had an engineering mind, often creating from scratch such things as go-karts for his children in the summers and snowmobiles for them in the winters. Everyone in the neighborhood knew that if something needed fixing Roland was the person to bring it to, who then would make sure it was returned to working order. Never done for profit, Roland’s belief in giving back extended to all areas of his life. Roland also served in the Army during the Korean War following his graduation from college.

While Roland’s life was one of service to others, it was his love and caring for his wife Ann that was clearly the single most important focus in his life, a focus he maintained with extreme diligence until her passing just days before his. Roland has left his mark on all of us, a mark that has enhanced our lives in ways we can never repay.

Roland is survived by his son, Michael and wife Karen Michaud (Harfoush), of Winslow, and their children Jacob Michaud and wife Britney Michaud, of Belgrade, and daughter, Kimberly Boutin, of Winslow; his daughter, Esther “Tess” Carter and husband Donald Carter, of China, and their children Michael Loubier and wife Meghan Loubier, of Winslow, and Jasmine Carter and husband Chris Vogt, of Arlington Massachusetts; his daughter, Lucie Loubier, of Winslow, and her children Adam Loubier and wife Mindy Loubier, of Winslow, Benjamin Loubier and wife Heather, of China, and son Nathan Loubier, of Portland; his deceased son, Lee Michaud’s son Dan Michaud and his wife Angie, of Athens; his 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Roland is predeceased by his parents, father, J. Alcid and maternal mother, Jenny Mae Michaud and stepmother, Dunny Michaud; his brother, Gerald Michaud and his wife Dolly Michaud, his sister, Cleo and husband Val, his son, Lee Patrick Michaud, his son-in-law, Mark Loubier, husband of daughter Lucie Loubier.

Visiting hours for both Roland and Ann will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday September 13, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.

In the early morning hours for those 34 years, through all kinds of weather Lenny would make his way to the club, either by bike or sometimes walking the mile and a half, only resorting in later years to a taxi. He loved his work family and he especially loved all the members. His goal everyday was to be at Champion’s to help in any way he could, and to meet and chat with all his friends. He was free with his hugs and would never miss an opportunity to tell the ladies how beautiful they looked. Lenny was so special to so many. His family and friends was his whole world. PHILIP P. POISSONIER

FAIRFIELD CENTER – Philip Peter “Butch” Poissonnier, 72, of Fairfield Center, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Augusta, following a long and courageous battle with acute liver failure. Butch was born in Waterville to Rita and Arthur Poissonnier on December 3, 1948.

He was the third child of eight children. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School, in Waterville, until the eighth grade. He graduated from Lawrence High School, in Fairfield, in 1967. While in high school he helped to start the first hockey club. He also played baseball and participated in gymnastics.

He married the love of his life, Beverly Brooks, on March 30, 1968. He worked for Scott Paper/Kimberly Clark, in Winslow, for over 40 years. He started out as a paper tester and went on to run the paper machines. He studied and obtained a class IV license to run the WasteWater treatment plant at the mill. While the mill was in the process of closing, Butch organized many fundraisers and bean suppers for his fellow co-workers. He organized rallies and was outspoken with the local papers and news stations while the mill was in the process of closing.

He then opened River’s Edge Restaurant and Catering, in Madison, which was a lifelong dream of his. On Fridays he cooked for the Universalist-Unitarian Church evening sandwich program. He was involved in the Elks Club, in Waterville, running the cribbage tournaments. He was also instrumental in starting the free Christmas dinner program. He was an excellent cook and prepared many dinners and BBQs at the Elks Club. He received the REM Award for Community Service, and many other recognitions from civic organizations.

Butch lived a life of family and dedication to helping the community and families in need. He was passionate about supporting his children’s athletic pursuits. He had the local fire department flood his backyard to build an ice rink for the kids to play hockey. He started the first Lawrence High School Boosters Club. He also started an outdoor skating rink in Fairfield for all the local kids. Much to the chagrin of his wife he mowed the backyard into a baseball diamond and kids from many towns came to play baseball. He built his own Field of Dreams and they came! He coached PAL baseball and football for many years. He was the Cub Scout master for the Fairfield troop. He helped with the summer youth hockey program.

When his grandchildren were in Christian school he taught a class in canning pickles using his mother’s special pickle recipe. He taught his boys at a young age (and their friends) how to water ski. Nothing pleased him more than to “get someone up on skis”.

Butch was very sympathetic to people suffering with cancer and was always available to give people rides to the Alfond Cancer Center for treatment. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding projects Butch did for the community is “Nine Days for Nine Children”. He read that a house was being renovated for a single mother with nine young children. The project manager needed people to sign up to prepare meals for the workers. Having just sold his restaurant he decided this would be a rewarding project for him and he volunteered to cook for every meal. He met the wonderful family who was the recipients of this project. He took them under his wing, taught the boys to drive, helped them get jobs, attended their weddings, and has always nurtured this relationship with the Champagne family.

His hobbies included playing Texas Hold-em, Cribbage, and being out on the water fishing. He loved to cook for large crowds, read, do the daily crossword and ride his lawn mower. He was an avid boxing fan and supported Brandon Berry.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Michaud Poissonnier, father, Arthur Poissonnier; and his best friend and brother, David Poissonnier.

Butch is survived by his wife, Beverly Brooks Poissonnier; his three sons, Jason and his wife Laurie, of Durham, Jeremy, of Fairfield Center, and Jamie and his wife Elizabeth, of Norridgewock; four grandsons, Evan, Reid, Joshua, and Ethan, and a granddaughter, Jamie Elizabeth; three great-grandchildren, Brianna, EmmyLou, and Brayden; his brothers Richard and wife Lucinda, of San Antonio, Texas, Paul, of Winslow; sisters Elaine Grenier, of Bradenton, Florida, Elizabeth and her husband Tom Leung, Janine Stewart and Deanna “DeeDee” and her husband Kevin Pomerleau; sister-in-law, Paula “Precious” Witham and her husband Ron.

Butch was a member of the Fairfield United Methodist Church. He loved his church, his pastor and dear friend, Chong Choi. He was a long-time trustee of the church.

A memorial service was held at on Saturday, September 4. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers, 93 Silver St., Waterville, ME 04901.

DONALD J. PERKINS

BELGRADE – Donald J. Perkins, 63, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 19, 2021. He was born in Bangor on February 18, 1958, a son of Frederick V. Perkins, Sr. and Patricia A. (Curran) Perkins.

Don was raised on dairy farms in downeast Maine and Belgrade, from which he came to appreciate the value of hard work and taking charge. He was a 1976 graduate of Messalonskee High School, in Oakland, where he met his high school sweetheart, Jean. He and Jean married just after her graduation in 1977 and enjoyed 44 years of marriage and true partnership.

Don joined the apprenticeship at Bath Iron Works after high school, and steadily applied his hard work, integrity, and honesty to ascend into increasingly senior positions, eventually becoming a leader in the contracts department.

Realizing that to reach his career ambitions he would need to increase his level of education, Don dedicated his free time over the course of multiple years to earn his degree in business administration. He used this knowledge and credential to climb further into the executive ranks as his career took him to coastal Mississippi and the Ingalls shipyard, followed by stints in Baltimore, Northern Virginia, and back to Mississippi. During this time, he became a highly respected industry leader, and was widely adored by his employees, who strongly valued his approach to leadership that so clearly demonstrated his interest not only in their careers, but also their home and family lives.

While driving outstanding results for his companies, he also took great pride in the role he and his teams played in serving the country’s military. Upon retiring to Belgrade with Jean in 2018, Don leveraged his reputation of contracting, and professional excellence to start his own consulting firm and broader consortium and enjoyed serving a steady volume of clients.

Outside of work Don enjoyed staying active. He thoroughly enjoyed engaging with his brothers and sisters and broader family, as well as his many friends across the community and the country. He took pleasure from helping others through mentorship, goofing with his grandchildren, coastal and mountain roadtrips with Jean, and playing a round of golf. Cycling was also a passion, and he took part in numerous Trek Across Maine events. You could also routinely find Don on his tractor changing the look of his yard, moving snow, or just generally tinkering. Don will be remembered for many things, but perhaps most of all for his kindness and generosity. He lived by the motto “No act of kindness is ever wasted,” and he applied this to his interactions with people from all walks of life, from strangers to dear friends and family. Don’s acts of service and generosity touched so many lives, and those close to him were fortunate to have his example to live by.

Mr. Perkins was predeceased by his father, Frederick V. Perkins, Sr. and two brothers, his twin, Daniel Perkins and Randall Perkins.

He is survived by his wife, Jean E. (Bickford) Perkins, of Belgrade; two sons, Benjamin E. Perkins, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Alan F. Perkins, of St. Petersburg, Florida; his mother, Patricia A. REV. ELEANOR S. DUHAMEL

WINSLOW – The Rev. Eleanor “Ellie” S. Duhamel, 78, died on Sunday, August 22, 2021, of complications resulting from pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully at home accompanied by her husband, the Rev. Marcel P. Duhamel, and her daughter, Melissa Bailey.

Ellie was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on November 28, 1942. She lived in Westwood, Massachusetts, and attended local schools, graduating from Westwood High School in 1961.

After high school, Ellie attended the Boston Conservatory at Berklee to study ballet. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, in 1964, with a bachelor of arts degree in English. In 1965, she married Thomas E. Flanagan, and moved to Durham, North Carolina, to teach eighth grade while Tom attended grad school. In 1968, Ellie and Tom moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where she taught kindergarten.

Ellie returned to the states in 1972 and continued to teach in the Rochester, New Hampshire, school system. She married Lewis B. Sykes in 1978. In 1995, she graduated from Andover Newton Theological School with her Master of Divinity and taught religious education in the Unitarian Universalist tradition. Ellie was ordained in 2004 to the ministry of Religious Education by the Unitarian Universalist Church, of Concord, New Hampshire.

Ellie and Marcel married at the Concord Church on January 1, 2005. Together, they served interim ministries in Ottawa, Ontario; Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Kennebunk. After retirement, they moved to Belgrade Lakes, and eventually settled in Winslow in 2017.

In retirement, Ellie was devoted to causes of social justice with emphasis on women’s rights. She was an avid knitter, quilter, and seamstress. She had a deep commitment to friendship. Perhaps because she was a UU religious educator, but more probably just because she was Ellie, she listened intently and always had the comfort of advice that was needed, and the humorous quip to lighten the mood.

Throughout her life, Ellie maintained a love affair with Star Island, one of the nine Isles of Shoals located seven miles off the coast of New Hampshire and Maine. She worked her first season as a Pelican—as the employees are known—in 1961 and returned to the island for many years to work and volunteer. Star Island was her “happy place,” and she was pleased to visit it one last time in June.

Ellie had a smile that could light up a room and was one of the most joy-filled people anyone had the privilege to know. She will be fondly remembered for her kindness, compassion, wit, and wisdom by all who knew her.

Ellie is survived by her husband; her brother, Donald E. Smith; her son, Thomas C. Flanagan, and his wife, Leslie; her daughter Melissa, her son Peter Sykes and his wife, Audra; her stepsons Marcel C. Duhamel and wife, Jacqueline, and Paul E. Duhamel, and his wife, Tess; and her grandchildren Samuel Wiese, Stephen Bailey, Gemma Price, and William Kelly Clark-Sykes.

She was predeceased by her parents Warren E. and Florence Smith.

BRENDA A. SUTTER

VASSALBORO – Brenda A. Sutter, 73, passed peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021. Brenda was born in Gardiner on November 28, 1948, to parents Robert C. Bodge Sr. and Pauline E.A. (Smith) Bodge.

Nanny had struggled most of her life with many health issues, but always overcame the odds, and surprised the doctors with the help of the Lord. She was supposed to lose her leg as a child due to a tumor, she was never supposed to walk again after the age of 18, and she was going to spend the rest of her life in a nursing home after being on life support in 2002; but that’s not the end of the story.

She was still walking and living with her daughter, son and two oldest grandsons up until the day the Lord decided her race was over. When asked how she did it by many doctors, nurses, and others, she would always answer, “me and the Lord, one step at a time.” Nanny is now enjoying paradise with the Lord, and a glorious reunion with those who went before her and were saved.

We know she is there because of the scriptures, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved,” (Romans 10:9). Brenda was saved in 1973, at the same time she met her husband of 28 years, Ronald C. Sutter Sr.

She was raised and graduated from high school in Richmond. She worked many jobs that she talked about often, the fish factory, the woolen mills, shoe shops, Digital, but her most important and fulfilling job was that of wife and mother. She lived in West Gardiner with her husband and four children from 1973 until December 2020, when she moved with her daughter to Vassalboro.

She has been an active member of Church Hill Baptist Church, in Augusta, for 20 years, and will be greatly missed by an amazing church family.

Her favorite hobbies were collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, many types of crafting, spending as much time with her children and grandchildren as possible, and most recently, watching Maine Cabin Masters on television, and yelling at them when they do something wrong.

Brenda was predeceased by a son, Ronald C. Sutter Jr., in 1985, her husband, Ronald C. Sutter Sr., in 2001, her parents, and brother William Robbins.

She is survived by daughter Ronnette Partridge and husband Gary, of Litchfield; daughter Paula Gravelle, of Vassalboro; and son Paul Sutter, of Vassalboro; six grandchildren who brought her amazing joy, Ronnie, Avery, Megan, Cameron, Kylie, and Kaleese.

A Celebration of Life was held at Church Hill Baptist Church, in Augusta, on Monday, August 23, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Church Hill Baptist Church at P.O. Box 5190, Augusta, ME 04332.

She had five “boyfriends” at church whom she made sure had an occasional batch!

Aunt Bea especially loved helping Diane Glazier, her boyfriend, Steve Pelletier and her daughter, Brianne Plante prepare veggies for sale each year at the Farmers Market, in Fairfield. She loved the Friday pizza night at their home! And we can’t forget the dishcloths she made and handed out to anyone she met or sold at the Farmers Market! He graduated fromSouthern Maine Vocational-Technical Institute, (SMVTI), in South Portland, as a civil engineer and spent 46 years working for Maine DOT. After retirement, he consulted with Kleinfelder, a private engineering firm.

He was a man of few words but much action. Some would say his passion was his career, considering it did take multiple retirement attempts before he stayed away. Others would say his passion was for woodworking and building things. He built a workshop above the garage, his happy place, where he would create everything from toy boxes to cabinets and many other projects. Many would even suggest being on his Kubota was what he enjoyed the most.

But in reality, his passion was his family. Gary and his wife shared a relationship based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. Family get-togethers around the pool or around the Christmas tree were the days he lived for. The legacy of Gary’s kind spirit, love for sports, craftsmanship, and love for life will live on through them.

He is now reunited with his parents, Roland and Marjory Trussell; and his brother, Bruce.

Gary is survived by his wife, Donna Trussell; five children, Jodi and husband Michael McCaffrey, Todd Trussell, Missy and husband Dov Cohen, Kristy and husband Billy Kinney, Luke Cote and fiancée Maeve O’Connor; three brothers, Chester and wife Bertha, Harold and wife Colleen, and Norman Trussell; 13 grandchildren, Tyler, Chloe, Dehvin, Hannah, Megan, Colin, Trey, Noah, Esmae, Aubrey, Aislinn, Zander, and Della; five great-grandchildren, Kasen, Eve, Lincoln, Olive, and Davina (who will be joining the family soon).

Herman worked much of his life in the woods as a heavy equipment mechanic, taking great pride in his work. He may have spent extra time repairing for clients, and got satisfaction out of not having it returned.”Way back in the day” he sang and played guitar in his friend Terry’s band, and was often asked to sing Tennessee Waltz. When he had been downsized from one construction company, Bill Larrabee, of Crocker Construction, in Topsham, hired him in his late ‘50s. He married Suzie (Clement) Brack on July 1, 1994. In all, they’d been together over 40 years. They loved each other’s children like their own – his daughter and son and her two daughters.Theirs was a good, sweet, fun marriage.

Herman never liked being the center of attention, but his quick wit and dry sense of humor made you like being around him.

He was very proud of his 37 years of sobriety. He went to one AA meeting and said, “I started this on my own, and I’ll stop it on my own” – and he did.

Spike was a well-known car dealer in Waterville for over 28 years. He was employed by Furbush Chevrolet, in Waterville, for years, and later with Frame Chevrolet, also in Waterville. In 1982, Spike semi-retired, and would be seen at Christy’s Country Store, in Belgrade, a business he shared with his two sons.

As Spike was an avid sports fan, he never missed any of his sons’ games and even was often seen at their practices. He was always heard in the stands yelling words of encouragement. He was very loyal to both the Patriots and Red Sox, and even got his wife Gerrie to become a dedicated follower of the Red Sox. In his later years, he became a golf enthusiast and played several area courses around Waterville. He was especially keen on Natanis Golf Course, in Vassalboro, and Belgrade Lakes Golf Course. He participated in every one of the 10 Patriot’s Day Open tournaments at Belgrade Lakes Golf Course with his sons, Tim and Tony, and son-in-law, Jeff, rounding out his foursome.

Spike attended several of Engelbert Humperdinck concerts with his wife, Gerrie, who was a huge fan of the singer. Although he wouldn’t admit it, he too became a fan. In addition, Spike and Gerrie went to Las Vegas, Foxwoods and Atlantic City whenever they could. Gerrie loved the shows and entertainment while Spike would often be spotted at a poker table. Gerrie and Spike were regulars at the Friday night BBQ at the Waterville Elks Club and had lots of good times with their many friends.

Spike will be remembered for his quiet disposition and his quick one-liners. He was very giving and generous – he was selfless and always put others before himself.

Spike was predeceased by his wife Gerrie; his parents, Olga and James Yotides; and brothers George, Thomas and Antonio.

He is survived by his two sons Anthony Yotides and his wife Tonia, and Timothy Yotides and his wife Lori, his daughter Kelly Johnston and her husband Jeffrey; six grandchildren, Christy Yotides, Jenna Yotides and fiancé Chad LePage, Kara Simmons and her husband Jake, Ryan Johnston and his fiancée Taylor Murphy, Spiro Yotides and Jordan Stolt; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Allarie and Kayden Lane; his sister Maria Yotides; as well as several nieces, nephews.

A committal service was held on July 20, 2021, the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, in Augusta.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Veilleux and Redington Funeral Home in Waterville.
